Mayflower Connection
Are we descendants of the Mayflower Pilgrims?
John Alden: Sailed on the Mayflower as "cooper". He signed the Mayflower Compact and married Priscilla Mullins in one of the first marriages in Plymouth, Mass. Their first child is one of the first European children to be born in the colonies.
Elisabeth/Elizabeth Alden Paybodie (Pabody/Pabodie): Daughter of John and Priscilla Alden
Lydia Pabodie Grinnell: Daughter of Elizabeth and William Pabodie
Jemima Grinnell Chalker: Daughter of Lydia and Daniel Grinnell. She married Abraham Chalker
Isaac Chalker: Son of Jemima and Abraham Chalker
William Chalker: Son of Isaac and Sarah Chalker
Randolph Washington Chalker: Son of William and Nancy Chalker
Thomas Sidney Chalker: Son of Randolph and Sarah Chalker
Selwyn Thomas Chalker: Son of Thomas and Mary Chalker (our grandfather)
Other famous descendants of John and Priscilla Alden: John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Marilyn Monroe, Calvin Coolidge, Orson Welles, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Longfellow wrote the famous poem "The Courtship of Miles Standish". It was about the "love triangle" between Priscilla, John Alden, and Miles Standish.

I came across this interesting story about conjoined twin girls when researching the Chalkers in Biddenden, Kent, England. It is thought that possibly the name should have been Chalker instead of Chulkhurst (as shown in the image) because it was known that there were Chalker families in that area, not Chulkhurst although there are many different versions of this story going back to the1100's.
