When Isaac Chalker was born on June 1, 1736, in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, his father, Abraham, was 37 and his mother, Jemima, was 31. He married Sarah Starr. They had seven children during their marriage. He died on August 24, 1803, in Guilford, Connecticut, at the age of 67, and was buried there.
Dr. Isaac Chalker served as Surgeon's Mate in the First Connecticut Regiment under Col. David Wooster, appointed April, 1775, traveling to Canada in his service to the colonial army. He was Second Master of St. Albans Masonic Lodge in 1773 under Colonial Charter, and First Master after the Lodge was put under rule of the Grand Lodge of the State of Connecticut in 1797. He was also Treasurer at one time. This Lodge is still in existence. He is buried in West Side Cemetery in Guilford, Connecticut.
His mother, Jemima Grinnell Chalker, is a Mayflower descendent, great-granddaughter of John and Priscilla Alden.
