1808 Will and Probate for Moses Granberry of Warren County, GA
Moses Granberry (Second) was a Revolutionary War soldier in Newbern District, Pitt Co., North Carolina, and made Sergeant in 1783. He owned land in Pitt County, but sold it after the war and moved to Warren Co., GA. In 1797 he received a grant from the State of Georgia for land in Columbia Co., GA which bordered his land in Warren Co. He is recorded as having received several other land grants in Warren and Columbia Counties, Ga. Part of these grants were probably for payment for services during the Revolutionary War.
With the signing of the Articles of Peace on January 20, 1783 the North Carolina soldiers were discharged and returned to their homes. Moses and his brother George continued to live in North Carolina until 1794 at which time they took advantage of war service land grants and participated in the Georgia Land Lotteries. In 1794, Moses Granberry and his children by his first wife and those by his second wife, Elizabeth Dulaney were living in Warren County, Georgia. On May 24, 1796.
